Agenda & Minutes

• Financial Update
  • Sadaqah vs Zakat vs sadaqah jariyah. We have different bank accounts for Sadaqah now and zakat is different. At Jummah we collect Sadaqah in a separate box
  • Action: Add another box for Zakat during Jummah @Saqib Malik
• General Body Meeting Reflections & Feedback; Arabic program inclusion
  • Better than last GBM but we continued to make last minute changes
  • We started 7:35pm instead of 7pm. Not many from community showed up on time
  • Didn’t leave much time for Q&A
  • We had technical issues throughout the GBM
  • Combining Family Night with GBM did not work well
  • Food was excellent
• Construction Update
  • Landscape architect / Tawheed came back with a proposal of what comes after architectural. Someone came up with a $45K proposal which is way off (lower) and they did not provide their experience details when asked
    • Moving forward with Tawheed’s referral
  • Sub-division – already approved; to record it we have to establish a surety bond that covers the Tax letter details from first American company. The amount they have asked to ensure is $117K – covers for property taxes for 2026-27. The Cost for Surety Bond is $2340
  • Resolution:
    • Board approved to move forward with Surety Bond
    • Board also approved the Named Officers of MHMA to sign the GIA provided by the Surety Company. Umar Sear, Asad Siddiqui and Saqib Malik will be signing authority
    • Action: Asad Siddiqui to execute both these approvals from Board and will work with Surety company to issue bond
  • MHMA Committees Grading Discussion
    • We will schedule an adhoc dedicated full board meeting to provide our rating for each committee.
    • Action: Asad S will come up with a process/framework to execute on this
  • MHMA Official Comms Channels for members, non-members; Email/WhatsApp
    • When do we use emails? What is our obligation to use Email from Bylaws or as a 501c 3 organization?
      • GBM; Elections; Monthly Board meeting public session
      • Action: Communication committee to review bylaws and current mechanism of communication via email and WhatsApp and provide recommendation to Board
    • ⁠Discussion and alignment on Political Campaigns>>MHMA <>MHMA board members involvement
      • BOT to take action to come up with guidance and recommendation on MHMA participation in direct or indirect engagement in political matters
      • Shahzad Ali tool action
    • Jummah Feedback
      • Comments about PBUH last two jummahs – must ensure the editorial is reviewed and discussed with Hidaya committee
      • Action: Hidaya Committee to create the process and share with Board – how do they enlist scholars that are invited to MHMA events. What should be the approach to approve, decline – present to the board
